Coach Door
Movement of the door is via a rising rotating pneumatic actuator, designed to install into the vehicle using the same interface details as other rising rotating actuators. Fitted on the doorframe are wedge locks, 2 per side, which engage mating parts fitted to the actuator lowers the door slightly, disengaging the wedge locks, before swinging the door out from the side of the vehicle. A parallel to the vehicle side during this movement. During the door closure the actuator swings the door closed into the door aperture and then lifts it until the wedge locks are engaged, pulling it tight into the aperture and locking it securely closed. Once fully closed a latch mechanism on the actuator mechanically locks the actuator in position to prevent it dropping (which would allow the door to swing open) in the event of a pneumatic failure. Safety interlocks prevent the door when the vehicle is in motion.
